11/2: Pop-Up with Paddy Foersterling, jewelry & metals artist!
Shop a special collection of handcrafted jewelry, one day only!
Please join us on Saturday, November 2, for a special pop-up shop featuring Paddy Foersterling, a metalsmith based in Barrington, Illinois. He makes beautiful jewelry by hand, using almost 100% recycled materials.
How gorgeous is this sterling silver Cuban link bracelet Jenn picked up last time Paddy was here? We love his thoughtful approach to materials and craft, so we sat down for a Q&A to learn more about his process!
GG: For our friends who aren't familiar, please tell us a little about your business!
PF: "Foersterling Fabrication” as a name, started in 2018 with an Instagram page I used to document the various projects I was working on throughout art school. After college it became a small business and passion project, creating jewelry and metalwork for friends and family. While also continuing to explore new ideas and styles, creating additional pieces that I can sell at events such as this one!
GG: Is there anything you want to highlight about your creations that may not be visible to the naked eye, but makes them really special?
PF: I take great pride that all of my jewelry is completely hand made. Aside from the clasps, almost every piece I make starts as wire and sheet metal or is designed and cast by me in house. The metals I use are all purchased through US suppliers who refine and recycle old metal stock. So each piece of jewelry that I sell is made with close to 100% recycled materials!
GG: How does being a Midwest business inspire or challenge you? What does being a "local business" mean to you?
PF: To me, being a local business really means first and foremost, being a member of the community. When you build a connection with the people around you, your understanding of each other and the surrounding area grows. If as a business owner you can build personal connections with members of the community, it creates a positive ad campaign for your community and your business.
GG: Finish the sentence! I hope my creations...
PF: I hope my creations are something people can treasure for years. With jewelry specifically my goal is always to make a timeless piece that owner connects with on a deep level, and that amplifies the beauty they see in themselves.
We hope you're as excited about Paddy's pop-up shop as we are - we can't wait to see you on Saturday!
