the piece | After the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, one thing remained untouched in the landscape - lush foliage. Inspired by the resilient moringa plant that grows wild on the property in Haiti, this piece represents the hope and promise of new growth when seeds of education are planted. A favorite Haitian proverb is inscribed inside which can be translated "little by little the bird builds its nest" to remind the wearer to take risks and say yes to the small steps, every day, to build on the greater dreams that await.
Cast in brass | gold dipped | 2.5" diameter
the purpose | English in Mind Institute (EIM) is a Haitian led, Haitian taught, adult English program in Port-au-Prince.
